Android 8.1 Oreo update rolling out for Razer Phone

The gaming smartphone Razer is now starting receiving Android 8.1 Oreo update officially. There are not so many smartphones for gaming purpose. The Razer launched in last year and came with pre-installed Android 7.1.1 Nougat Operating system out of the box. The company has not released any major Android OS update for the phone so far, but the company promised that it will update Razer phone directly to Android 8.1 Oreo.

Last month, the company announced that it will release Android 8.1 Oreo update for Razer phone all over the world sometime in April. Yesterday, the company rolled out the Android 8.1 Oreo update for its Razer Phone.

However, the new Android OS update will take 10 days to reach every Razer phone owner out there, according to Razer. Unfortunately, the company has not provided an official changelog yet, we can expect that there is not much else to add, aside from the Android 8.1 Oreo features.

But still, owners of Razer phone can expect many improvements including picture-in-picture, notification enhancements, smart text selection, Autofill, new emojis and better security. There is no information about the security patch, it may come with latest April security patch.

The Razer Phone comes with 5.7-inch IGZO IPS display with 1440 x 2560 pixel of resolution. It is powered by Dual Quad-Core CPU and Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset on board along with Adreno 540 GPU better graphics experience. It has 8 GB of RAM and 64 GB internal storage option along with micro SD card slot on board.

There are Dual 12-megapixel camera sensors on the back side with 2x optical zoom, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED dual-tone flash. It has an 8-megapixel camera on the front side with f/2.0 aperture for selfies. It is packed with Non-removable Li-Ion 4000 mAh battery and supports Fast battery charging 24W (Quick Charge 4+) feature. It is available in Black color. It comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
